I started in Network Marketing in the early nineties and i didn’t know which end was up. I saw other people who were doing the business and I knew I could do it too. I was in the restaurant business for 50 years and there was one great similarity to Network Marketing and the hospitality business-they both dealt with people, but from different angles. In the restaurant business they came to you in Networking you went to them. You would start out by talking to people you knew like relatives, friends and work associates.
So how was I going to do this? I used to watch this guy early in the AM with the big teeth telling you how to believe in yourself with an infomercial on a set of tapes called “Personal Power.” His name is Tony Robbins and he was very convincing so I ordered his tapes after much contemplation.
Tony states on the very first tape that 10% of the people who order the tapes never even listen to them. They come neatly wrapped in cellophane and these people store them on a shelf somewhere. Can you believe that. Not me I listened to those tapes over and over again. I had hoped for some magical bullet from them. That never happened, but that was more my problem than the tapes.
“Take Action” was one of the benefits of these tapes(cassettes) to me. You can design a method and set goals of how to approach Network Marketing , but if you sit on your rear nothing is going to happen. You have to move forward and take action. There are people who will tell you anything to get you signed up and that is too bad. Fro instance when I got started I assumed you bought a distributor kit and some product and you were on your way.
The marketing tools and systems that Network Marketing companies have developed today are fantastic. all these tools are wonderful and getting better all the time, but you still must “Take Action.” Try not to get overwhelmed but your mind telling you it’s too much. “Inch by inch it’s a cinch-mile by mile it’s a trial.” Go at your own pace until you get a handle on MLM, but make sure you do something everyday. Above all “Take Action.”
